Do you think that sounds unreasonable? It might sound that way but it's simply not as hard as people make it out to be. Why is it that most people feel Chinese is such a difficult language to learn while they virtually scoff at languages like German, French and Italian? The truth is, any language takes time and patience and Chinese, like any of the others, is no different.

The main reason people feel Chinese is "impossible" is because of the characters, which are unusual to say the least. But like any other symbolic language these symbols can be learned and it doesn't have to take you an eternity to learning Chinese.

Another reason people feel Chinese is so difficult is that, unlike many other languages, English isn't derived from Chinese. In languages like German, French and Italian, you'll find many words that are very similar, if not exactly the same. An oversimplified example would be "pizza" or "menu" -- words that mean the same thing in all European-based languages.

When it comes down to it, Chinese is no different than any other language. You're going to have to put time and effort into it if you want to become proficient, as with anything else in your life. With that said, you'll find a review I recently came across in the link below. I believe you will find it most helpful and the resource itself, excellent.

In closing, Chinese is a majestic language. And with the Chinese becoming bigger players on the world's stage at every turn, it would be wise for more people to begin learning Chinese. So take the attitude of never stop learning and learn to speak Chinese. I promise it's not as monumental a challenge as people make it out to be.
